It’s softball time!

Wall Township Recreation Director Edward Grill said the 2011 season of recreation softball is fast approaching, and registration is open for teams looking to join the Sunday Men’s League and the Women’s Weeknight League. Anyone can form a team and join the league.

The Sunday Men’s League games will be played starting with doubleheaders at 9 a.m., 11 a.m., 1 p.m., 4 p.m., 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. most Sundays at Rash Field. Doubleheaders will also be held at Brice Park at 9 a.m., 11 a.m., 1 p.m., 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. Mr. Grill encouraged teams to register early. The registration fee is $625.

The Women’s Weeknight League will be offered as well — B Division games will be played primarily on Mondays. Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays may also be used, depending on the amount of teams registered. The registration fee is $525.

To guarantee a spot in the 2011 Wall Recreation League, fill out the application found on,along with a deposit in the amount of $300 payable to Wall Township Recreation by March 31. After that date, teams will be registered on a first-come, first-served basis. The balance of entry fees is due by April 15.

The league is scheduled to begin Monday, May 2, and run through Wednesday, Aug. 11. Playoffs will end, weather permitting, by Sept. 1. This season only ASA approved bats will be allowed in the league. The recreation department is limited to a maximum of 12 B teams, so Mr. Grill said teams should be sure to register early.
