Bridge support snaps, under repair

August 15, 2011

On Monday, Aug. 15, at 10:15 a.m., the Wall Township Police Department responded to New Bedford Road between Allaire Road and Wall Church Road after receiving a report of the roadway sinking.

On-scene investigation revealed that a support under the bridge there had snapped. The Wall Township Department of Public Works and the Monmouth County Bridge Department responded, and determined that the bridge will be shut down.

Police said repairs were ongoing Monday afternoon, and the repairs are expected to be completed by Tuesday evening. The motoring public is asked to plan an alternate route through the area.
